AL-HABBAR FOR WEBSITES AND SMART APPLICATIONS MANAGEMENT LLC، وهي شركة مسجّلة في العراق (يُشار إليها هنا بـ«الحبّار» أو «نحن»).
- للتواصل بشأن الخصوصية والدعم: info.alhabbar@gmail.com

Al-Habbar GPS — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 24 October 2026
Applies to: version 1.0 of the Al-Habbar GPS app for iPhone and Android, and the Al-Habbar servers it connects to.
Published at: https://gps.alhabbar.tech/privacy
1. Who we are
Al-Habbar GPS is provided by AL-HABBAR FOR WEBSITES AND SMART APPLICATIONS MANAGEMENT LLC, a company registered in Iraq ("Al-Habbar", "we", "us"). We decide how the personal data described here is used.
- Privacy and support contact: info.alhabbar@gmail.com
2. Summary
- You can use the map, search, routes and voice guidance without an account. The app has no accounts, and we do not ask for your name, phone number or e-mail address.
- Your location is used to show where you are and to guide you. When you are online, the start and destination of a route are sent to our own routing server, which calculates the route. When you are offline, routes are calculated on your phone where your downloaded map includes routing data (currently the Baghdad area); elsewhere no route can be calculated offline, and nothing is sent.
- Our servers are hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Frankfurt, Germany, and content reaches you through the Amazon CloudFront network.
- We show no ads and use no analytics or advertising tools. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell personal data.
3. What the app uses, and why
3.1 Your location
- With your permission ("While Using the App"), the app reads your phone's precise location. It uses it to show your position on the map, to calculate routes from where you are, and to give turn-by-turn guidance.
- While you navigate, guidance continues when the screen is off or another app is open. On iPhone the app uses background location only during an active trip. On Android it shows a navigation notification. When you are not navigating, location is not used in the background.
- Your phone's operating system may use its own location services, from Apple or Google, to find your position. Apple and Google run those services under their own terms.
- You can turn location permission off at any time in your phone's settings. The map and search keep working, but the app cannot show your position or guide you.
3.2 Routes and navigation
When you are online, the app sends the following to our routing server to calculate a route:
- your starting point (normally your current precise position) and your direction of travel;
- your destination;
- your route preferences (for example, avoid tolls or highways) and any road closures to avoid;
- your current position again each time the route has to be recalculated.
While you navigate, the app also sends the route line to our servers to look up speed limits and road reports along the way. The route line shows where the trip starts and ends.
We use this data only to answer the request. We do not store it in a database, and we do not link it to a person. When you have no internet connection, routes are calculated on your phone and nothing is sent.
3.3 Search
When you search for a place while online, the text you type is sent to our server so it can search the whole country. If you have allowed location access, your position is also sent, rounded to about 1 km, so nearby results come first. When you open a place, its identifier is sent to load its details. The server does not keep a history of your searches, and our request log does not record search text or positions (section 3.5). When you are offline, search uses the downloaded map on your phone (its search covers the same area as its routing data, currently the Baghdad area).
3.4 Maps, map downloads and road information
The map, labels and offline map packages are downloaded from our own servers. We do not use other map providers. The app also downloads road closures and road reports, when any are available. For these it asks either for one fixed area (Baghdad) or for your route, never for your exact position. Version 1.0 has no way to send road reports. The app also downloads updates to Al-Habbar's own places (for example the entrance of a residential complex) so that search finds them offline. This request contains no personal data.
3.5 Technical data and server logs
Like any internet service, every request from the app reaches our hosting provider, AWS (Amazon CloudFront and our load balancer), together with your IP address. AWS processes the IP address for us to deliver the traffic. We have not turned on access logging at CloudFront or the load balancer.
Our own web server keeps a short technical log of each request. It records the time, the type of request, the path
without any search text or position, the result code, the size and how long the request took. It does not record your IP address or details of your device. When a request fails or is refused, the server's error log may record details of that request. These can include the full address requested (for a search, this contains the search text and the rounded position) and an IP address. Both logs are kept for 14 days and then deleted. The programs on our server keep their own technical output, limited to a small fixed size, and older entries are overwritten. We use these logs only to run the service, to protect it against abuse (for example, by limiting how many requests one address can make) and to fix faults.
To check whether you are online, the app regularly sends a short, empty request to our own map server. No third party is involved in this check.
3.6 Apple CarPlay (iPhone)
If you connect your iPhone to a car with CarPlay, the car screen shows the same map and guidance as the phone. Your phone builds the list of destinations on the car screen from your saved Home and Work and your recent searches. When you pick a destination, routes are requested from our server exactly as on the phone (section 3.2). CarPlay does not collect or send any extra data.
3.7 Data that stays on your phone
The following data is stored only on your phone. The app does not send it to us:
- saved places, lists, Home and Work;
- the last places you chose in search, and places from recent search results (so you can open them offline);
- trip statistics (number of trips, distance and time, with no positions);
- downloaded maps and your settings;
- places you opened from a shared location (in your recent places);
- a diagnostic drive log. It contains the trip start point and a position about every 30 seconds rounded to about 100 m, plus speed and guidance events. Only the newest 3,000 entries are kept. On iPhone there is also a voice-guidance log, which can contain the names of audio devices such as your car's Bluetooth system. If the app stops because of an error, it also saves a short technical note: the kind of error, a short error message and which step of the app was running (for example connecting to CarPlay), with no location and no personal data. These logs help us analyse road tests and errors. The app does not upload them.
Settings → Delete my data lets you delete:
- Search and trip history: trip statistics, recent searches and the diagnostic logs;
- Saved places and lists;
- Downloaded maps.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of this data. Depending on your phone's settings, some of it may be included in your phone's own backups. Those backups are controlled by you and by Apple or Google.
3.8 Contacting us
Settings → Contact us opens your phone's own e-mail app with a message to our support address, ready for you to edit. You choose whether to send it. If you leave "Add the app version and phone system (no location)" switched on, the message also includes the app version and build, your phone's platform and system version, and the app language. It never includes your location or trips. The app itself sends nothing. When you send the e-mail, we receive your e-mail address and anything you wrote, and use them only to answer you. Our support mailbox is hosted by an e-mail provider, which processes these messages.
3.9 Permissions
- Location: see section 3.1.
- Notifications (Android): shows the ongoing navigation and map-download notifications.
- Camera: the app does not use the camera in version 1.0.
- Notifications (iPhone): if you have allowed notifications for the app, the share sheet can show one local notification to open the shared location. Version 1.0 does not ask for this permission.
3.10 Locations shared with you
You can open a location someone sent you (for example a map link or coordinates) in Al-Habbar GPS. On iPhone you choose Share → Al-Habbar GPS in another app; on Android you share it to the app or open the link with it.
- The shared text is read on your phone. The app does not send it to us.
- On iPhone, the share sheet passes the text to the app through storage that only Al-Habbar GPS can read on your phone (an "App Group"). The app deletes it as soon as it opens, and ignores it if it is older than 15 minutes.
- A short link (maps.app.goo.gl, goo.gl/maps or maps.apple) only works through the company that made it. To read the location, your phone asks Google or Apple directly where the link leads, exactly as a browser would. This request contains only the link, with no position, account or other data from the app, and does not pass through our servers. Google or Apple receive it under their own terms, including your IP address. No other links are opened.
- If the shared text contains only a name or an address, the app opens search with that text. It is then sent to our server like any other search (section 3.3).
- The place you open is kept in your recent places on your phone (section 3.7). Routes to it are requested as described in section 3.2.
4. What we do not do
- We do not show ads, and we do not use advertising identifiers.
- We do not use analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools from other companies.
- We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers.
- We do not keep a history on our servers of where you drive.
- We do not create accounts or ask for your name, phone number or e-mail address in the app.
5. Who we share data with
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosts our servers and storage, and delivers our content through Amazon CloudFront. AWS processes data for us under its service terms, including your IP address to deliver traffic.
- Our e-mail provider, only for messages you choose to send us (section 3.8).
- Google or Apple, only for short links you choose to open (section 3.10), directly from your phone.
- Authorities, when applicable law requires us to share data.
We do not share personal data with anyone else, and we do not sell it.
6. Where your data is processed
Our servers are in the AWS Frankfurt region (Germany, European Union). Content is delivered through Amazon CloudFront, and CloudFront locations around the world (including in the Middle East) may handle your requests. When you use the app, your requests therefore leave Iraq and are processed in Germany and in other countries where CloudFront operates.
7. How long we keep data
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Route requests, route lines, search text and positions | Not stored after the answer is sent |
| Our server's request log (time, request path without search text or position, result; no IP address) | 14 days |
| Our server's error log (failed or refused requests only; may include the full address requested and an IP address) | 14 days |
| Program output on our server | Limited to a small fixed size; older entries are overwritten |
| Data on your phone | Until you delete it or uninstall the app. The drive log keeps only the newest 3,000 entries |
| A shared location waiting for the app (iPhone) | Until the app next opens; ignored after 15 minutes |
8. Security
The app talks to our servers over encrypted connections (HTTPS, TLS 1.2 or newer). Our server storage is encrypted and cannot be reached directly from the internet. Our servers only answer requests that come through our CloudFront distribution. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to fix problems quickly.
9. Your choices and rights
- Turn location access on or off in your phone's settings.
- Delete the data on your phone in Settings → Delete my data, or uninstall the app.
- Use the app offline with a downloaded map. Nothing is then sent to us; routes and search work on your phone in the map's routing area (currently the Baghdad area).
- Contact us (section 12) to ask what data we hold about you, or to ask us to correct or delete it. We answer within 30 days. The app has no accounts, and our request logs do not record who made a request.
- If a data-protection law that applies to you gives you more rights (for example, if you are in the European Union), contact us to use them. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
10. Children
Al-Habbar GPS is a driving and navigation app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Map data
Maps and place names come from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL) and OpenMapTiles. We host them ourselves. Using the app does not send your data to OpenStreetMap.
12. Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version with its effective date. Before an important change applies, for example if we add accounts, we will tell you in the app.
